Our work

A few projects we’ve brought to life with AR

From murals to wedding invitations, these are real pieces brought to life with augmented reality. We designed some of them; others came to us from the artists and authors who made them. Each one carries a video, a story or a message that appears when someone scans it.

Galveston, Texas

Texas’ largest AR mural

Absolute Equality is a 5,000-square-foot mural about Juneteenth by Houston artist Reginald C. Adams, created for the Juneteenth Legacy Project and unveiled in 2021. It covers the east wall of the Old Galveston Square building at 22nd Street and the Strand, overlooking the spot where General Order No. 3 was issued on June 19, 1865, telling enslaved people in Texas they were free.

Adams came to us with the finished mural through our partner Solel International, a Houston nonprofit that produced its videos. Point the uncovAR app at any panel and a video plays right over the painting.

Children’s books

A picture book you can hear

A Backyard Birding Adventure: What’s in Your Yard? by Kermit Cummings, with illustrations by Holly Weinstein, introduces ten common backyard birds in rhyme. The idea and the words are Cummings’ own: he wrote the book and came to us to bring it to life.

Scan a bird with the uncovAR app and you hear the call that bird makes. Young readers learn to recognize each bird by its sound as well as by sight, and the next time they hear it in the yard they will know who is singing.

Weddings & occasions

A save the date that speaks

It arrives in the mail like any other card. Scan it and a video of the couple plays, sharing the date, the venue and the invitation to come. If plans change, they update the video and every card already sent shows the new one.

Open the uncovAR app, tap scan and point your camera at the image.
